• Develop and implement EV battery and e-waste recycling programs, ensuring compliance with national and international environmental standards.
• Conduct life cycle analysis (LCA) of battery materials, assessing the most effective recycling methods for lithium-ion, lead-acid, and other battery chemistries.
• Research and recommend sustainable recycling technologies, including hydrometallurgical and pyrometallurgical processes.
• Collaborate with EV manufacturers, recyclers, and policymakers to establish closed-loop recycling systems for end-of-life EV battery systems and components.
• Assess and propose safe disposal methods for hazardous battery materials, ensuring alignment with the Basel Convention, Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), and ISO 14001 standards.
• Lead feasibility studies on second-life applications of EV batteries, such as reuse in other energy storage systems.
• Monitor industry advancements and regulatory updates to integrate best practices into battery recycling frameworks.
• Conduct training and awareness programs for stakeholders, including government agencies, industry leaders, and local recycling workers, on safe battery dismantling and recycling.
• Develop public-private partnerships to scale up battery recycling infrastructure and sustainable resource recovery initiatives.
• Prepare and present technical reports, white papers, and research findings on secondary and tertiary usage, waste management performance, material recovery, and environmental impact assessments.
Ph.D. or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, Renewable Energy, or a related field.
Minimum 5 years of experience in battery systems, battery recycling, electronic waste management, or sustainable resource recovery.
Strong understanding of battery chemistry, hazardous waste handling, and material recovery processes.
Experience with waste-to-energy technologies, second-life battery applications, and lifecycle impact assessments.
Familiarity with financial and policy incentives for EV battery recycling and circular economy models.
Proven ability to work with cross-functional teams and lead R&D projects in battery and e-waste recycling.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical writing skills for research publications, sustainability reports, and policy recommendations.
Expertise in EV battery recycling supply chains, regulatory compliance, and recovery of critical minerals.
Experience and/or understanding of hydrometallurgical, mechanical, and thermal recycling techniques.
Familiarity with battery pack design and dismantling for effective recycling and repurposing.
Proficiency in data analysis tools, lifecycle assessment (LCA), and environmental impact modeling.
Establishing a network with battery manufacturers, recyclers, and sustainability organizations.
This is a part-time consultancy position requiring a commitment of 40-60 hours per month (flexible schedule).
The consultant will work remotely, with occasional in-person meetings as required.
